Hydrate
Water is essential for a healthy life. It affects your body functions from your heart, muscles, and even brain. Drinking plenty of water can help make you feel less sluggish throughout the day, flush out waste from your body, regulate body temperature, and help your brain function. Sometimes we forget to drink our water throughout the day. Help make it more fun to reach your water intake goal by having a fun colorful water bottle or to help you, even more, purchase a water tracking bottle!
Try Meditation
Learning how to meditate can increase one’s overall awareness and mindfulness. Meditating regularly can help lower stress and improve symptoms of stress-based conditions. Meditation can also help increase positive emotions. This is a great activity to do alone or as a family. Think of possible benefits your family could gain by meditating together as a part of a new routine/ritual.
Establish a Routine
When we have a routine, we improve our mental health, reduce stress, increase productivity, and ultimately experience a more well-balanced lifestyle at work and home. As you are creating your routine, remember that you don’t have to schedule every aspect of your day. Schedule important things to remember or things that need to get done for that specific day. Time is our most precious asset and putting some sort of structure to your day can help provide more opportunities to relax and to incorporate things that you currently aren’t getting to!
Sleep
Oftentimes, people underestimate the power of sleep for regeneration and recovery. Lack of sleep affects our mood and it can also lead to overeating. While we sleep, our body works to support healthy brain function and maintain our physical health. Getting enough sleep can reduce stress and improve your mood. Adults should try to get seven to eight hours of sleep each night.
Make Time for Yourself
While establishing your routine, don’t forget to make time for yourself. We often put others before us and we underestimate the importance of me time. Try carving out 15-20 minutes a day to do something that will re-energize you. Once you start making time for yourself you can increase your alone time. When putting your wellness first, you will care for your loved ones much more effectively.
