The warnings are out there: wear your sunscreen! And for the most part, that’s exactly what people do when they are at the beach or outside in the hot North Texas sun for long stretches. But how many of you wear sunscreen while driving your vehicles? The odds are high that not many of you do, and we can’t blame you. After all, you’re in the friendly confines of your car or truck. Why on God’s green earth would anyone apply sunscreen in the car?
Because your skin can be damaged from the sun’s dangerous ultraviolet radiation — even in your car.
Need proof? Look no further than an image of an unnamed truck driver published by the New England Journal of Medicine and later shared by CBSNews.com. This man, who was 69 at the time, had been a truck driver for the better part of 28 years, and you can see how the sun ravaged the left side of his face even with the window up in his truck.
His condition is unilateral dermatoheliosis, and the damage includes excessive wrinkles, premature aging, and potentially deadly skin cancer.
The image just goes to show how powerful the sun’s rays are and that they can easily penetrate window glass and clouds in the sky to negatively affect you!
Sunscreen is important year-round

Your friends at Live Young Wellness Spa urge you not to underestimate the benefits sunscreen has as a preventative healthcare habit. Even if your skin isn’t in any kind of danger of getting cooked, wearing sunscreen is a great habit to get into. And there are plenty of products — right here in our office — that really work.
If you haven’t had any luck with sunscreen in the past, or you’re looking to start a habit of wearing it, please consider the top-tier sunscreens and brands we offer here at Live Young Wellness Spa, such as Epionce, ELTA MD, and more.
