At one time or another in our lives, we’ve all been plagued by those pesky dark circles and bags under our eyes that can make us appear constantly tired and older than we really are. The good news is that while you may be thinking that your situation is hopeless, you don’t have to be stuck with this look forever.
We have several injectables, non-invasive dermal filler treatments at Live Young Wellness Spa to help you look young, feel young, and live young, including one called Restylane Silk that can rejuvenate the lower eyelid and tear trough.
First things first, what is the tear trough?
The tear trough is the groove separating your cheek from your lower eyelid. This thin area of skin, which is sometimes blue-ish in color, is a common area that both men and women become concerned with as they age. Starting in a person’s 30s, the groove loses volume and begins to hollow out and take on a more pronounced, sunken look.
Depending on a variety of other factors, the tear trough can become quite deep and really make a person look aged. Just a few of the factors that contribute to tear trough issues include, but are not limited to:
- Lack of sleep
- Sun exposure
- Dehydration
- Genetics
- Allergies
- Injury or deformity
Restylane Silk — tear trough treatment
Lower eyelid rejuvenation with filler is a common procedure many people turn to as they age to add a touch of volume back to the depressed tear trough area. Restylane Silk, an FDA-approved injectable hyaluronic acid gel, is, in my opinion, a great soft tissue filler to add volume to the tear trough and the lower eyelid. By working on both areas, patients notice less aging and longer-lasting results.
Restylane Silk is found naturally in the skin and because it is soft and malleable, we can mold and shape it to the desired look after injection. The best time to begin treating the tear troughs is quickly after they begin to become noticeable, usually in our 30s or 40’s. Surgery or a laser resurfacing along with the filler may be needed if there is too much excess skin in the lower eyelids.

The youthful face is full of volume with smooth transitions from the cheek to the eye, mouth, and nose. As we age, these smooth transitions are interrupted by always deepening creases and an overall loss of volume. To combat this loss of volume and restore the smooth transitions between the facial zones, fillers are used. If you have tear trough issues, schedule an appointment with Flower Mound Plastic Surgery Center today to see which treatment option is right for you.
