It seems like there is a med spa on every street corner these days. And considering the array of services they all offer, patients might find it difficult to notice even the most subtle of differences. One of the many ways Live Young Wellness Spa in Flower Mound separates itself is that we have an on-site registered dietician nutritionist or RDN. And if youβre not regularly visiting with our RDN for all your wellness and nutrition needs, what are you waiting for?
More important than all the procedures that can help you look your best is your ability to take care of your body from the inside out. And that starts with proper nutrition. The science of eating right can be overwhelming when trying to go at it on your own. An RDN walks with you on that journey, translating everything into practical solutions that deliver results.
Benefits of seeking advice from an RDN
There is a myriad of reasons why you should visit an RDN. Tops on that list is experience. A registered dietician nutritionist has a four-year degree in a specially-designed, accredited nutrition curriculum established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. They must pass a rigorous registration exam while also maintaining continuing education credits throughout their career. Basically, they never stop learning.
Is visiting with an RDN the right option for you? You bet!
Here are 8 reasons why you should visit with an RDN.
1. You need help sorting through fact and fiction
All the fad diets on television and what you hear from friends and family who think they have it all figured out can be confusing. An RDN helps untangle the web of confusion. They can help you decipher all those labels in the supermarket, find ways to dine out without falling off the wagon, and even show you ways to cook healthy on the cheap.
2. You need help setting goals
Youβre simply spinning your wheels if you donβt have a goal, whether itβs a health goal, work goal, or something else. An RDN not only helps you set realistic goals, but theyβll go a step further and make sure they have a complete understanding of your health history, eating and exercise habits, and more so that attaining the goals you do set is much easier to achieve.
3. Your RDN is your accountability partner
Itβs one thing to give you a goal, a few tips, and send you on your way. Itβs another thing to have someone in your corner, cheering you on and monitoring your progress. The key to that is scheduling those follow-up visits so that you and your RDN are always on the same page.
4. You need to gain or lose weight
Not everyone needs to lose weight. RDNs can suggest calorie sources to boost healthy weight gain. They can also develop a personalized weight loss plan and help you fine-tune it along the way. The right guidance ensures you are always making the right choices for what your body needs.
5. Youβre pregnant
Regularly visiting with an RDN is paramount for expectant mothers, new mothers, and women who plan on getting pregnant. Every woman wants a healthy pregnancy, and they also want to make the right choices after the baby comes. Get the nutrients you and your little one need by visiting with an RDN.
6. You want to be better in sports
Regardless of whether you are an athlete or a weekend warrior hoping to reclaim the days of old, performance is the name of the game. A properly fueled body helps you reach your athletic goals faster.
7. You want your family to eat healthy, too
For many people, healthy living is more than just worrying about themselves. How do you meal prep for an entire family, and do it the right way? Your RDN can help with that.
8. You need help managing other conditions
Diabetes, high blood pressure, digestive problems, and other chronic conditions can make coming up with a healthy eating plan difficult. Donβt try to do this on your own. Call an RDN today.
Meet our RDN β Maggie Hennigan, βthe dietician who hates diets.β
Maggie is a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) at LYWS whose passion for nutrition came in early high school upon being diagnosed with Celiac disease. Having to undergo a complete diet overhaul, made Maggie realize the immense impact that proper diet and nutrition have upon every aspect of life. This realization and a newfound passion for nutrition prompted Maggie to pursue a Bachelorβs degree in nutrition sciences from Baylor University, and then go on to complete a 1,200-hour medical nutrition therapy-focused residency program through Texas Womanβs University in Houston. She simultaneously pursued a Masterβs degree from TWU as well, from which she will graduate with her MS in December.
Due to Maggieβs extensive education and credentials, she is a voice you can finally trust to provide you with strictly evidence-based, science-backed nutrition recommendations. Whatever your health goal, you can be sure you will receive a plan tailored to your specific goals, lifestyle, needs, and preferences that will actually work.
Nutrition is never one-size-fits-all approach, so by working with Maggie, you will finally:
