Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments performed worldwide, with over 7.4 million treatments performed. Botox can help provide both male and female patients with a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance when injected by a professional. Although its popularity and effectiveness, many people may still doubt Botox because of misinformation. Here at Live Young Wellness Spa, we are here to debunk those Botox myths once and for all.
Myth 1: Botox is toxic and unsafe.
Botox is completely safe for cosmetic and medical use. It has been FDA- approved as an anti-aging treatment and is one of the most widely administered drugs on the market today. Numerous amounts of people think that Botox is toxic and unsafe because of the name- botulinum toxin, however low dosages of this protein have been proven safe and effective for both cosmetic and medical uses.
Myth 2: Botox injections are painful.
Botox is a quick procedure that usually takes about 10 minutes! The needles during a Botox treatment are very thin for accuracy. Most patients experience very little to no discomfort at all! Some say it feels like a small pinch. Numbing cream is also an option to help ease any discomfort.
Myth 3: Botox will make my face look “Frozen.”
When injected by a skilled professional, Botox should never make your face look frozen or emotionless. The right amount of Botox will not cause your face to look tight, but instead, your skin will appear softer and wrinkle-free. Our professional injectors can work with you to help achieve your desired look.
Myth 4: Why get Botox when creams/serums can do the same thing?
There are products out there that can help with wrinkles and fine lines, but there are no creams/products on the market that can actually physically relax the muscles in your skin. Creams and serums can only penetrate through a certain level of your skin’s dermis, however when used together with Botox, certain products can help enhance your Botox results making your treatment last longer.
Myth 5: Your wrinkles will worsen if you stop getting Botox.
Botox isn’t a permanent solution to wrinkles (although we wish it were) and as the Botox starts to wear off, you will regain facial movement in your muscles before your next treatment. Gradually, the fine lines and wrinkles will start to return if you decided to stop treatment altogether. If you choose to stop getting Botox, there would not be any permanent damage to your face. In fact, the reduced movement of the treated muscles prevents future wrinkles from forming.
