If you are curious about liposuction and how it can help improve your lifestyle and appearance, then you have come to the right place. Liposuction can remove fat and can help even-out fat distribution. It is also an excellent option for those who just can’t seem to get rid of extra fatty tissue, no matter how many crunches or sit-ups you do. This time of the year is perfect for liposuction! With the irresistible holiday food and sweets that only come once a year, we all tend to gain a few extra pounds along the way. This winter baggage can really highlight our stubborn problem areas that are typically not noticeable during the summer. Now, thanks to all the amazing Thanksgiving treats, Dr. Sanderson has a better idea of what areas to target for your liposuction procedure.
What exactly is liposuction?
This procedure removes excess fat tissue underneath the skin through a suction method. Do you seem to have excess fat over certain areas like the hips, lower abdomen, or thighs? It can often help with these problematic areas. The perfect liposuction candidate is an individual with stubborn fat areas and good overlying skin elasticity. When liposuction is done well, these difficult areas are left visibly smaller.
Does Liposuction permanently remove fat?
Yes. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the treatment area. However, if you do not maintain your results, fat cells can and will increase in size, and your results won’t be as noticeable. It is important that patients follow all instructions given after the procedure to ensure that they maintain their results.
Does Liposuction leave scars?
Anyone who experiences a cut through the skin will end up with some sort of mark/scar, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be large or last forever. Dr. Sanderson carefully and meticulously inserts the cannula as discreetly as possible to help minimize any scarring. Over time, these scars will fade, and, if necessary, silicone gel sheets, laser therapy, or chemical peels may be used to reduce the appearance of scars. We offer affordable membership options at Live Young Wellness Spa, including laser treatments and many more that can help with post-surgery scarring.
What is the recovery process like?
Recovery usually takes about three to five days, but swelling and bruising can last from one to two weeks. Patients can expect mild discomfort during the first few days of the recovery period. The recovery period following liposuction requires wearing compression garments that are form-fitting and extremely warm. This makes a recovery a breeze during the colder months when you already have to layer up. Getting liposuction during winter gives yourself and your body time to heal so you can have your “big reveal” just in time for the spring.
