Many of our clients here at Live Young Wellness Spa in Flower Mound know exactly what they would like to get out of their visit before they even walk in the front door. Maybe itβs a younger-looking face, reducing the appearance of fine lines, a more even skin tone, or even reducing acne scarring. But just because they know what they want doesnβt necessarily mean they know which treatment is the best option for their unique needs.
There are so many treatment options to consider these days in the fight against aging. To help you decide, weβd like to clarify key differences between a few of them: Halo, Contour TRL, Broad Band Light, Microneedling, and Chemical Peels.
What is Sciton Halo?
With past laser treatments, you had to choose between a procedure that offers great results but a lengthy recovery or a procedure with a fast recovery but marginal results. The Sciton Halo is the worldβs first hybrid fractional laser. It combines non-ablative (heating but not destroying the skin) and ablative (destroying the most superficial layers of the skin) wavelengths in a single pass to maximize results and control downtime. The Sciton Halo precisely targets years of skin damage such as discoloration, sun damage, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, poor texture, scars, and fine lines and wrinkles. Our patients typically have 3-4 days of downtime and return to their everyday lives soon after.
What is Contour TRL?
If you want to completely resurface your skin and allow fresh, healthy cells to grow, then the Contour TRL is for you. The depth of treatment will depend on the skin condition, desired outcome, and expectations for downtime. Still, it is great for eliminating fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes and pigment irregularities. Because Contour TRL can affect tissue with micron precision, your physician can treat your skin with the exact amount of energy needed. Contour TRL comes with 7-21 days of downtime.
What is Broad Band Light (BBL)?
BBL uses intense pulses of painless visible light to treat a broad range of skin conditions caused by aging and sun exposure, including sun spots, age spots, rosacea, acne, fine lines, freckles, redness, birthmarks, and more. And the best part is that these treatments arenβt limited to your face. Broad band light treats virtually any area of the body, including the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands. The treatment only takes roughly 15-20 minutes. Afterward, patients leave with a mild red, flushed appearance, which resolves within a few hours. For pigmented skin, the treated pigmented area will darken, fade, and then flake off typically within one to two weeks.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a treatment in which a needle is used to create micro-injuries on the surface of the skin. These injuries cause the body to produce collagen and elastin β two proteins that help keep skin looking firm, tight, young, and healthy. At LYWS, we use a medical-grade SkinPen to perform this procedure at varying depths to match your unique needs. The result is a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles while also reducing stretch marks, scars, press, and uneven skin tone. It also creates microchannels, which allow topical gels, creams, and serums to absorb into the skin more efficiently β enhancing the effects in the deeper layers of the skin.
What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels accelerate skin exfoliation by using a unique blend of minerals, salicylic acid, Vitamin C, phenol, retinoic acid, and TCA, and even just one painless treatment will last you several months. It works by creating micro-damage to the top layer of your skin. The top layer then falls off painlessly, stimulating new tissue growth in its place that looks and feels younger, smooth, and more radiant than ever. Chemical peels help with a variety of skin issues, including fine lines and wrinkles, sensitive skin, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, loose skin, and more.
